Caring for Your Braces
Brush thoroughly after you eat, clean out any food that has been trapped in your brackets and wires. Bush your teeth at a 45-degree angle move from the gum line down to the end of the tooth. Flossing at least once a day is very important. There are special tools that may help with flossing. A dental floss threader is used to help clean around braces. Follow these tips to keep your mouth healthy during your orthodontic treatment.
A V-shaped bristle brush or an interdental brush is also good to use while braces are on. Prepare a kit with a toothbrush, floss, floss threaders, Soft picks, toothpaste etc to carry with you at all times and use between meals.
Skip chewy, sticky and sugary foods as these can get trapped in the brackets and wires that could potentially break your braces if you are trying to get it out. Also causing plaque buildup around your brackets leading to cavities.
