Don’t deal with discomfort or pain any longer
adentaloffice.com in Barrie, Ontario offers TMJ and headache treatments
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the joint located on either side of your head, just in front of your ears. This joint attaches your jawbone to your skull. Some people develop problems with the muscle, bone or other tissue in and around the TMJ resulting in discomfort and pain.
Pain becomes evident near the jaw joint, in the muscles of the jaw, face or temples. Sometimes, grinding, clicking & popping noises can be heard. This pain can sometimes radiate to the neck and can cause headaches.
Symptoms in the jaw often result from injuries, joint disease & habitual tooth clenching or grinding often attributed to stress.
After completing a thorough assessment, our dentists will develop a treatment plan that may include lifestyle changes, relaxation techniques, a referral to a physiotherapist, chiropractor or a behavioural therapist.
On occasion pain and anti-inflammatory medications are prescribed combined with a night guard to help your jaw joints and muscles to relax.
