Whiter Teeth – It’s Simple!

Having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of most clients and there are several ways to whiten teeth.
A simple, non-invasive dental treatment, teeth whitening is used to change the colour of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance your smile.
Our dental clinic offers both in-office ZOOM whitening and at-home whitening systems to whiten teeth. Before using a teeth whitening system, it is important to evaluate the replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. specifically in your smile line since teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel. Any replacement of restorations should be done after whitening your teeth so they will match the newly whitened teeth.
Important to know is that teeth whitening is long-lasting but not permanent. Although the teeth typically don’t go back to their natural colour, a touch-up may be needed every several years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine!
Our at-home teeth whitening system usually requires two visits. At the 1st appointment, impressions or molds will be made of your teeth to fabricate custom, plastic trays for both your upper and lower arch.
At your 2nd appointment, an initial shade of your teeth is recorded and you will try on the trays for proper fit. You will receive a demonstration and instructions on how to use the system you are using.
Having your teeth professional cleaned and brushing and flossing your teeth before placing the trays in your mouth for your whitening treatment will help you receive the best results.
The trays are typically worn with a whitening solution either twice a day for 30 minutes (depending on solution %) or overnight for a couple of weeks depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening. It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have stopped whitening.
You will receive care instructions for your teeth and trays, and we encourage a visit to your dentist and hygienist regularly to help maintain a beautifully white, healthy smile!
